Youth
With a Mission was founded so people could get into
missions--without the requirement of
several years of schooling. Now, with 1000 operating locations in
over 160 countries, YWAM presents Christians both young and old with
many forms of missions involvement. And it's easy to get started. So where do you start? In
Madison, there are several ways you can be involved -- through taking a
seminar, going on a short term (1-2 weeks) mission trip, studying in
one of our schools, helping feed homeless, volunteering on
construction projects, cooking meals for our missionaries and students, and much more. Click on the links to the right
to discover more about who we are and what we do. And if you want to
talk to someone rather than look at a computer screen, give us a call
or email us with your number so we can call you! 608-255-0500, press 0
for operator. You can also call our Toll Free number at 1-888-iGO-YWAM. - short term outreach:
Get a taste of what missions is like. For one or two weeks, work side by side with full-time missionaries and other people like you; a short term trip can be anywhere from your home town to a different hemisphere, doing a wide variety of projects and/or evangelism. A short term outreach works great for students with winter, spring, and summer breaks, and others with limited vacation days. See our survey on where YOU would like to go!
- volunteer projects:
Interested in volunteering? We love volunteers. Check out the ways you
can be involved. Volunteer projects range from technical computer work
to kitchen help to interior decorating and more.
- madison/local outreaches:
If you or your group wants to be involved in local outreach, we have
several ways you can plug in. From working with troubled teens, feeding
the homeless, evangelizing or leading Bible studies on campus, you'll
find a way to be in missions right here in Madison.
- training schools: Training
is one of three strands of ministry weaving throughout all YWAM does.
YWAM's training aims to equip Christians to serve others in everything!
A Discipleship Training School is the gateway to all the other training schools YWAM offers with the University of the Nations, and to being a full-time missionary with YWAM. The School of the Bible is a 9 month course to train and equip Christians to study, understand, and teach the Bible. Bible School for the Nations is a 5 month Bible training school with a focus on bringing Bible training to indigenous people groups. The TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) school gives you the knowledge and experience to teach English in any nation, especially Asia.
- access:
Teens, discover your destiny! Access is an intense summer leadership
training and outreach camp for teens with a missions trip to the
Caribbean. It's a gateway into a deeper relationship with God.
- field ministry internships:
Integrate your studies/training with cross-cultural missions service
and gain new vision, understanding of mission strategy, and a broadened
world view. Gain insight into how your field of study may be used to
help minister to the poor and needy in the developing world.
- women's intercession groups:
Intercession is "standing in the gap" for someone else with our
prayers. It's listening to God and praying. We have a few women's
prayer groups who meet weekly to pray for America and other nations.
Intercession groups also have their own outreaches. Email us for more
information.
- mercy ministry:
The "hands and feet" of the Gospel. Mercy Ministry opportunities from
Madison include HIV/AIDS training, construction projects, working with
homeless, hanging out with juvenille offenders, and anything and
anywhere else where people need to experience the tangible love of God.
- english as a second language: The
Bridge to the Nations Language School teaches English to speakers of
other languages who live here in Madison. You can volunteer as a
conversation partner and help these students learn about local culture
and traditions. It's a great way to make friends with international
students.
- join staff: Already
in YWAM or know you want to be in YWAM? The first step is to go through
a DTS. If you'd like to join us here in Madison, we'd love to invite
you to our community. Get to know us, check out our staff pages, read our stories, send us your application! You'll find the application on this page here.
