School Courses
The School of the Bible is a University of the Nations course consisting of three segments of training and a field assignment. Upon graduation, you will receive 44 credits within the College of Christian Ministry.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Discipleship Training School.

Introduction to Discipling Nations:
In synopsis form, it ties Old Testament history together with the teaching of Jesus on the kingdom of God to see how biblical principles apply to structures of government and economic relationships. It presents Church history and the history of revivals and missions. This course gives practical direction and experience in biblical interpretation, and develops principles of effective preaching and teaching necessary to draw an audience, keep their attention, and communicate God's message to them. It also introduces practical leadership principles. (Credit: 12)

Old Testament Studies:
A biblical perspective of God's activity in the Old Testament is gained by following the hand of God throughout history and across continents. The student learns to develop tools of discipleship through effective and creative speaking, biblical interpretation, and leadership principles. Practical insight is gained on how to apply biblical principles to civil government and economics. (Credit: 12)

New Testament Studies:
Understanding of the New Testament message is deepened by providing historical and cultural backgrounds, and by noting the authors' emphases in writing to the intended audience. It begins with a study of the Gospels, including the richness of the parables of Jesus. The Acts and the Epistles come alive as they are studied in chronological sequence. Valuable insights are gained from a working knowledge of New Testament Greek. This course is not intended to detail every verse of the New Testament, but to provide inspiration, practical principles and help for life, and to develop a biblical base for teaching and preaching. Biblical Ministry Field Assignment:
Practical skills are developed in active preaching, teaching, and discipling in churches, prisons, schools, and on the streets. Students carry out all aspects of the outreach: prayer, planning, organization, and leadership.

CCM 317: Introduction to Discipling the Nations -- 12 Credits

This course examines God's dealings with Israel to gain practical insight on how God disciples nations. From Old Testament history and Jesus' teaching on the Kingdom of God, we discover how to apply Biblical principles to nations. It gives us a base from which to discern what our ministry's long range effects will be. It brings incredible inspiration and vital historical direction.

Intro to Discipling the Nations answers the questions:
  • How should I minister in order to disciple nations?
  • Why should I minister that way?
The Bible student must always have the question before him of: How will knowledge help me to be more effective in serving God, in extending His Kingdom, and in deepening my personal relationship with Him?

Basic Leadership Principles: enhances your leadership abilities. It helps you to expand your spiritual influence through servanthood, clearly defined vision, effective communication skills, goal setting, time management, and spiritual leadership principles.

Principles of Effective Communication: gives you very practical help for sharing with others what has become so real to you in your own Christian experience. It aids you in discipling others, whether one-on-one or in a group setting.

Worldviews & Absolutes: answers fundamental questions that all people have, such as: How do I know the Bible is God's Word? How do I witness to people involved in mysticism and eastern religions? How do I lead a person to see the faulty basis of an unbiblical view so that I may more effectively share the Gospel with him? What are the evidences that God exists?

Biblical Interpretation shows:
  • How to study the Bible in its historical-grammatical context.
  • How to reason from the Bible's own premises.
  • How to analyze the thought structure of the sentence.
  • How to identify and understand paragraphs in context.
  • How to pictorially outline scripture passages.
  • How to identify the author's meaning.
  • How to use reference books and study tools.
  • How to reason logically.
  • How to identify presuppositions and their conclusions.
  • How to complete effective word studies.
  • How to understand figures of speech used in the Bible.
  • How to do scientific inductive Biblical research.
Historical View of Ministry: defines and illustrates God's purpose in history.
  • Examine the history of men and nations in light of the Kingdom of God.
  • Learn historically proven Kingdom of God principles and how to apply them in human relationships, both individually and nationally.
  • Trace God's purpose as He maintains control of the direction and purpose of history.
  • Gain a historical model to guide you in life and ministry.
  • Examine the message and necessary conditions for revivals. This study will inspire you to willingly work and persistently pray for revival.
Biblical Principles of Civil Government: identifies the Biblical absolutes related to the purpose, structure, and operation of civil government. Historical study shows how Christians have applied biblical principles to bring forth national biblical reformation.

Biblical Principles of Economics: Teaches principles related to the purpose for and use of our material resources. This study provides a practical understanding of the biblical principles that result in just productivity and wise investment of material resources. It covers principles essential to our voting wisely in governmental elections.

CCM 318: Old Testament Studies - 12 Credits

Study the Old Testament in its historical sequence and background. This is a practical study geared to be relevant to your life and ministry.

The Old Testament reveals that God "is righteous in all His ways, and kind in all His deeds." However, we need to spend time in detailed study of the Old Testament to remove our misconceptions about God, that we may with authority and accuracy "ascribe righteousness to our Maker."

The Bible gives historical proof of how wonderful, loving, and infinitely intelligent God is. Study what God is really like. Examine why He deals with people in the specific ways He does. See how God directs and maintains control of history even though people rebel against Him.

This course will:
  • Increase your love for the unity of God's revelation.
  • Inspire your affection and worship for God.
  • Investigate the ways of God in dealing with mankind.
  • Inform you of the background and context of the Old Testament books through grammatical, historical study.
  • Graft the Old Testament framework into your understanding of the New Testament.
  • Include application of practical study methods.
  • Increase your ability to use reference tools.
  • Identify biblical principles and their correct application.
  • Intensely study the book of Proverbs for practical wisdom.

CCM 318: New Testament Studies -- 12 Credits

Expand your understanding of Jesus - his life, and his teaching. See the four gospels put together into a single unit of beautiful truth. Follow Paul through his missionary journeys. Study each of his letters in their historical context.

Study the truths of God's amazing love towards His creation. Immerse yourself in the study of Jesus' reaching down to deal with the nature of man and sin through the glorious atonement - the greatest event in the history of the world. To study thoroughly is to prepare you for service to God and others.

Gain a biblical view of man, of sin, of God's provision for salvation, and of the Christian life. Arm yourself with practical understanding vital for wise Christian counseling and discipleship. Prepare yourself to be of genuine practical help in life and ministry.

New Testament Greek -- 6 Credits

Study Greek step by step and discover the incredible help it brings in expanding your insight into scripture. (You study Greek in an orderly way, maximizing the use of helps available.) By the end of the SOTB, you will have completed an exhilarating study of First John. Understanding is an invaluable tool of great benefit to you for the rest of your life.

CCM 320: Field Assignment -- 8 credits

This course is a three-phase program of practical outreach experience:
  • A five-week team outreach involving ministry in churches, prisons, schools, etc. The students carry out all aspects of the outreach, including planning, organizing, and leading. It allows every student the opportunity to build practical leadership experience.
  • A one-week leadership outreach gaining practical ministry experience. Students will have opportunities to live out what they are learning in practical service, teaching, leading bible-studies, intercession and connecting with people.
