|Youth With A Mission’s Discipleship Training School (DTS) will challenge you to deepen your relationship with God as you get to know His character and His ways. Most say that DTS radically changed their lives and helped them to get to know God in a deeper, more personal way. DTS will help you discover your place in the Great Commission and embark on a lifetime adventure with God!A YWAM DTS is for people of all ages (18+) and cultures who are serious about taking their relationship with God to the next level. It’s about setting aside time to focus entirely on Jesus. Each day you’ll be plugged into a schedule that provides time alone with God, small group interaction, teaching and study time, fellowship, and of course, free time to soak it all in.
What is a YWAM DTS?
The YWAM DTS is a 5-6 month Christian missionary training school that focuses on interactive learning, Christian discipleship, and outreach. At YWAM Madison, we place a high priority on one-on-one discipleship and mentoring. We also have local outreaches throughout the first three months of the school. Our students who complete the DTS are prepared to serve God in traditional missions, the workplace, and in school.
The DTS provides an essential foundation in Christian character as students grow in their understanding of God and who He has called them to be.
YWAM Madison DTS will change your life!
We’re so excited about our DTS and alumni! Our DTS is rigorous — you’ll get your money’s worth in teaching, discipleship, and mission experiences. You’ll be put in situations that challenge you and bring out your strengths and weaknesses as you learn to give your all for Jesus. You’ll learn how to hear God and to obey Him. Your relationship with God will be on the fast track! Students tell us that DTS is like a greenhouse for spiritual growth. I dare you to come to YWAM DTS and not experience God’s work in your life! It can’t be done!
The YWAM Madison DTS fulfills all the requirements set by the University of the Nations and the International DTS Centre. That means we incorporate worship, outreach, intercession, class time, and essential book studies. We practice interactive teaching and learning and give you the chance to express what you’ve learned in a way that fits who God made you to be. We recognize that God created each of us differently, with unique abilities and perspectives. We love to see people realize their full potential and see them excited to serve God in new ways! We’ve had students who didn’t excel in traditional school realize that they are intelligent and creative and contribute highly to our community.
What to Expect at a YWAM DTS
In YWAM, we have the saying that you’ll be “ruined for the ordinary.” You can expect that at DTS! It means that you’ll forever be ruined for a stale religion that leaves out communication and relationship with our Creator and Savior. It means you’ll expect God to speak to you and to work through you. It means that even though you might go back to work at home six months later, you won’t be the same.
You won’t forget the stories of seeing a whole family meet Jesus in Uganda, or a woman’s face healed from an unknown disease. You won’t forget the hugs from the attention-starved children in India’s orphanages and brothels. You won’t forget the joy of a Chinese college student discovering God for the first time. You will be ruined for an ordinary life!
YWAM DTS Part One: Grow
The first three months of DTS is a highly concentrated live/learn environment. You’ll live with your classmates and staff. We bring in gifted speakers to teach on topics like God’s father heart, how to study the Bible, forgiveness, and more. You’ll learn about current issues around the world and what you can do to make a difference. You’ll join in discussion groups with your classmates to process what you’re learning.
If what you learn in class doesn’t affect the way you live your life, then what’s the point? In DTS, you’ll learn how to take what you learn and make it practical. That’s why we also include local outreaches each week. Our students show God’s love to the homeless population in Madison and they mentor incarcerated teens. They lead an after-school program for kids and befriend international college students.
YWAM DTS Part Two: Go
The first part of DTS prepares you to GO! The DTS outreach will take you to the ends of the world to preach the gospel, to show God’s love to the poor, to pray for the sick, to rescue the enslaved, and to care for the orphan and widows. Each year, our DTS outreaches look a little different than the last. They are formed to suit the individual students, the focus for the school, and the need in the world. The best way to learn about the outreach is to watch our videos and read our stories. Hear our students express in their own words what they saw and did and picture yourself in their shoes.
Which YWAM DTS should I attend?
YWAM Madison runs Discipleship Training Schools three times a year. They all include everything above, but have a unique focus.

Starts every September. Rescue Ops DTS will answer the cry from every man, woman, boy and girl who long to be free. The journey to find them is long and fraught with peril. We must be strong. We must be bold. We must “endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” (2 Tim. 2:3)

What’s After YWAM DTS?
After completing a DTS, the world is wide open for you! You can join full-time staff in YWAM, pursue a degree with the University of the Nations, return to your school or job with a newfound sense of identity and purpose, or do whatever God has called you to do.
Why not give God a year and see what He can do in and through you? After the DTS, you can attend one of our Bible schools or intern with us in the ministry of your choice. We also offer seminars in working with Children at Risk and Community Development.
