Our vision is to train missionaries who can “accurately handle the word of God,” and communicate truth in a relevant way. Whether through a local church, on a university campus, or among a group of Christian leaders in restricted areas, we believe this course can enable many more people to help transform our world.
The purpose of BSN is to equip YWAM workers who are seeking to know the truths of the Bible that transform individuals and nations, and to enable them to effectively communicate these ideas to others. The BSN gives the necessary tools for students to build a biblical foundation for life and ministry. It seeks to cultivate in the students a deeper love for God and for truth, and to build confidence in God’s loving character in how He brings about His purposes in Biblical and modern history. Additionally, the course provides the Biblical basis for most of YWAM’s Foundational Values.
Old & New Testament Study
The Bible School for the Nations is an inspiring journey through the Old and New Testaments. In the course of study, participants learn about the Kingdom of God, God’s nature and character, His purposes in history and His interaction with people. Students examine the vital message of the gospel and the Christian life, while discovering practical principles of leadership, civil government and economics. Understanding these universal principles is essential to partner with God to bring transformation and liberty to nations.
How we study the Bible
The BSN studies the Bible chronologically within its context with an emphasis on application and interaction. Through this study we discover God’s hand and purposes in history and his heart for nations. Students develop skills to approach difficult passages and to compile a topical resource. Training is also provided for the students to become more creative and effective communicators.
The two-month outreach phase helps students grow in their team-building and leadership skills, as well as gain practical experience in conducting a Bible seminar in a cross-cultural setting. The outreach will take Bible training to those who would not otherwise receive it. The BSN outreach teams work alongside YWAM’s BELT (Biblical Education & Leadership Training) ministry. BELT conducts courses for community and church leaders with limited access to biblical training, frequently partnering with Wycliffe Bible Translators to train indigenous leaders after the translation of New Testaments.
The Bible School for the Nations further equips YWAMers to disciple communities and nations from a Biblical perspective. BSN not only partners with BELT, but also with the School of the Bible, which provides an in-depth study of the material introduced in the Bible School for the Nations. Together, the desire is to see ministries begun in all the regions of the world in need of Biblical training.
